True Sourdough Bread is made only using naturally occurring yeasts and other vital components. You just need bakers (strong) flour, water, a bit of salt [preferably] and of course, a starter (culture)    That's It!

The Recipe has been around for 5000 Years!

No shortcuts here folks!
It's the Real McCoy! Get your starter going using the step by step instructions included, apply a little Planning and Patience, and soon you will be baking Magnificent
Artisan Sourdoughs.
[FULL instructions are provided]

In Your Own Kitchen, Of Course!

True Sourdough does not need to be sour, or dense...
It's all in the preparation!

You can create your sourdough breads "Free Form", use a Proofing Basket or Couche, or bake in a baking tin, if that suits you better.

INTRODUCING: Brett Noy's 100% Rye Starter

Just released from Brett's Bakery - Uncle Bobs Bakery.
100% Rye Sourdough Bread is not everyone's cup of tea, but this culture will help you make Rye Bread second to none you may find in Europe.  Follow the easy A-Z instructions and enjoy!
Rye bread is traditionally Quite dense, and actually gets even better in taste if you leave it for a day or so! [if you can!]

Brett's 100% Rye recipe calls for both rye flour and rye meal, which are also available from our shopping cart
Because Brett's 100% Rye recipe produces a fairly wet dough, it is best to proof/bake this in a tin, use a proofing basket, or lined S/S or ceramic bowl to proof your dough.

The Rye starter is specifically designed to work with 100% Rye loaves. If you wish to mix say 50/50 wheat/rye we recommend Brett's white starter.
