SOURDOUGH CLASSES       

We plan to schedule a number of Sourdough Classes in 2008.

All Classes are conducted in a kitchen, with a large overhead mirror, so you can watch proceedings closely, as they unfold.

u An Introduction to Sourdough Baking

Next class: tba.  Please register your interest    $ 12.50

This class is designed for those, that are interested in True Sourdough baking, but have not done so before, or may have attempted to do so in the past and were not, or have been less than succesful.

Class topics include : What is Sourdough, The required steps to bake your first Sourdough loaf, Looking after your Starter, Basic Bakers Terms, Building your first loaf of Sourdough. Tips on basic Sourdough and bread making Techniques.

After this Class, you will have a basic concept of Sourdough baking, what's involved, and should get you on the road into your Sourdough journey. Currently we hope to schedule Saturday Afternoon Classes. If you're interested in an Evening Class, let us know here

 

u Sourdough Baking : the next level

from Pain to Pane : Fine-tuning your Sourdough Skills.

You'll probably learn more in these two hours, than in months of trial and errors!

We are extremely fortunate to announce that Brett Noy, Proprietor of Uncle Bob's Bakery, has agreed to run this Class.
Brett Noy is not only an extremely knowledgeable all-round Baker, but is also fired with a consumate passion for "true" Sourdough and "old style" breads. Recently the winner of the inaugural Australian Artisan Cup, Brett is more than qualified, to guide you further into the wondrous world of True Sourdough and Better Bread. 

  • The class is designed for those, that are (probably) already baking Sourdough, but would like to "lift" their knowledge and skill to the next level.
    This is the Class for You!
  • Using Sourdough and Pre-ferments can be an extremely rewarding past-time, but if things do not go quite the way you were hoping, can at times be somewhat frustrating (not understanding why certain things happened, or didn't happen).
    This is the Class for You!
  • Frequently budding Bakers "switch" off at this point, and put it in the "too hard" basket.
    This is the Class for You!
  • If you like to go from baking acceptable sourdough, to trying to bake exceptional loaves.
    This is the Class for You!
  • For those that haven't baked sourdough before, but like to jump in at the "deep end".
    This is the Class for You!

This Class will give you a better insight in your choice of ingredients, pre-ferments and how they can effect your doughs, but primarily Brett will demonstrate the making of various types of sourdoughs and "old style" breads, that require different approaches in preparation and finishing.

Not only will Brett guide you further in your sourdough journey, you'll be able to sample and enjoy some wonderful Bread and other nibbles.
